Colonel Brian W. Capps Colonel Brian W. Capps is the Deputy Commander, United States Space Forces-Northern, Colorado Springs, Colorado. SPACEFOR-NORTH plans, coordinates, supports and conducts employment of space operations across the full range of military operations, including security cooperation, in support of United States Northern Command objectives. Prior to assuming his current position, Colonel Capps served as Director of United States Space Command's Joint Integrated Space Team in support of United States Northern Command. He has also served as a Minuteman III missile combat crew member, space launch control officer, mobile radar mission commander, Director of Safety, and deployed as Defensive Space Control Officer, Director of Space Forces Staff, Al Udeid AB, Qatar. Colonel Capps has commanded at the Detachment, Group, and Base level. He has held staff positions at the Center, Wing, Numbered Air Force, Major/Field Command, Combatant Command, and NATO Strategic Command levels. Colonel Capps commissioned in 2000 through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps upon graduating from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. He attained a Master of Science in international relations from Troy University in 2005 and Master of strategic studies from the United States Army War College in 2025.
